Mark, this is good news. We can finally be bees. This is good news, mark. You'll live for thirty years. This is good news.

Heya!
So, Suliman is hosting the bearblog carnival this month, and the topic is "Your favorite meme".
This came at just the right time, because I have once again rediscovered "We can be bees". It's a clip from a sadly now deleted YTP by verytallbart. You can watch it here.

I don't exactly know why, but this has just been permanently stuck in my head for about a month now. I think it's a combination of things. First up, I have never watched invincible. This is the only exposure I've ever gotten to the show. The complete lack of context here for what Omniman actually said in this scene makes this a lot funnier, i think.

I also just love the enthusiasm in the guys voice here. He genuinely wants to be a bee. That combined with how many times he repeats "This is good news". I don't know, there's a certain oddly earnest quality to this. Like he's trying really hard to sell the concept of becoming a bee to mark. There's no ulterior motive here, Omniman just loves bees.

The cherry on top for me is the "You'll live for thirty years" part. I love how Omniman emphasises this. Because, for a bee, thirty years is an absurdly long time. There aren't any bees that live that long. So, to Omniman, who's coming from a bee-centric perspective, it's a great deal! Not only do you get to be a bee, you'll have several times their lifespan. This makes it seem like Omniman is genuinely talking from the perspective of a superpowered bee. I really enjoy that, personally.

I think marks reaction to the whole thing is the funniest part though. He's genuinely shocked and appalled at the very idea of even having the possibility to become a bee. The sort of, contrast between Omniman who seems genuinely earnestly in love with the concept of being a bee, and mark, who is horrified by it is just incredible. Noone participating in this conversation is sane.

And, there's... just something so catchy about the whole exchange. It just feels good to both type and say. "We can finally be bees. This is good news." has just such an absurd quality to it, even without context. Typing it out and sending it just tickles a certain area of my brain, for reasons I'm not even entirely sure of myself. This is an incredible clip, and "This is good news" has become part of my vocabulary now.

Also, before anyone asks: Yes, I know invincible isn't actually a show about Omniman wanting to become a bee. I wish it was though, I'd watch that version of it in a heartbeat.
