Most people deeply misunderstand mobile games - re:You Deserve Better than Mobile Games

So, i just read this blog post by toastnotes.

I have some opinions.

The only problem with mobile games is that most people seem to think that "mobile games" automatically equates to "soulless cashgrab made by big company". This is also a problem in the pc and console scene, but it's there to a much bigger extent when it comes to mobile games.

So... No. Not all mobile games suck. In fact, most of them are awesome. The problem is that most people have resigned themselves to the pit of suck™ that is the playstore frontpage.

Here's some mobile games that don't suck!

(The ones i don't share a link for can just be found on the playstore.)

No more future

Great visual novel about a person on their death bed having their consciousness transplanted into a robot. Link

Antimatter Dimensions

Incremental game with really cool unfolding progression. We love numbers going up, right?

Dancerail3

Probably the best rythm game ever made. Just try it, seriously. Using a tablet is recommended though.

Balatro

I know, it's a pc game originally. Still, it works really damn well on mobile.

Kemono Mahjong

Mahjong but your opponents are cute wolfboys. Do i need to say more? You may think you don't like mahjong, but you actually do and just don't know it yet.

Monument Valley

Cool puzzle game about playing with perspective. I'm fairly sure everyone has heard of this one. If you haven't: go ahead and try it :3

BAIKOH

Really fun word tile matching game. If scrabble and Tetris had a really rude robot child that wants to eradicate humanity.

Empty.

Another puzzle game about perspective. This time you need to line things up to make various objects disappear on solid colored backgrounds. Link

Game dev story

The cutest and most charming game dev "simulator" game ever made. It's just got so much damn charm. In general, i recommend anything by kairosoft, they're great.

There's a bunch more out there. Just look at itch.io's android section. Can we please stop pretending that mobile games are only made by giant corporations?

Support your indie devs, y'all!
