Music I've been listening to

Heya! I've been a bit preoccupied with a different writing project i might talk about more in a couple days (if things go well), so I've decided to just recommend some cool music I've been listening to lately.

I hate everything - Just Nick

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sTny0QBM3A

Song about atheism and regret. Incredibly catchy with some great lyrics. It feels sincere, but it's also kind of taking the piss.

These in particular make me smile every time I listen to them.

She moaned, "Oh god,” and I moaned, “God is dead”
She said, “Hey, man, what's your problem?”

The delivery of Just Nick really sells it, i think. Stupid and over the top, but in a way that feels relatable. I've been "that guy" before, I will admit. Luckily, I've since learned to be considerably less obnoxious about my atheism lol.

The greatest show on earth - Nightwish

This made me cry. It's a genuinely beautiful song about nature, the universe and how incredible it is that any of us are alive in the first place. If you haven't listened to this before: Go do that. It's really good. There's more to be said here, but I'll probably make that to its own dedicated blogpost at some point.

House of 1982 built like a ship - Driftless Pony Club

I found this one by watching a review of MyMusic, which this was apparently used as the theme song for. I love the lyrics, and they're a really interesting window into the story of Buckminster Fuller, the architect whose life this this song is about. Who, If I'm being honest, I hadn't really heard of before listening to this song. Hey, we all have our blindspots. Here are some of my favorite lines from the song:

I will never ever get an "F" for effort
That won't bring back my only daughter

I don't mind if I die unidentified
As long as I'm buried in architecture

In the House of 1982, built like a ship
Your legs are like roots

Anyways, that's it for today.
Thanks for reading!
