My writing process

Heyy! Today I wanted to talk about my writing process a bit. It's nothing fancy, but I thought It'd be kind of interesting, and I haven't seen anyone else doing it here.

So!

For me to start writing a blogpost I usually need a topic, so I have something to talking about.. Sometimes, I'll see some sort of blogpost on here I really want to respond to, or hear something IRL, and immediately get inspired to write something.

Often, I have no idea. This is why I also have a big obsidian document that I edit anytime I think of a topic, which I use when I can't think of anything. Most of the stuff in there will probably never get its own blogpost: Not every idea is created equally, some of them suck. Usually, one out of every ten or so ideas in there actually ends up being good enough for me to write something about it. Sometimes I also just disagree with the premise of the idea - Not everything I come up with at like, 2am, is a coherent statement.
Anyways, Here's a quick screenshot:

As you might notice, all those ideas are formatted like titles. That's because I write the title first when writing a blogpost. Thinking of a catchy title helps me think about where exactly I want to go with a blogpost. It makes for a more interesting writing prompt. However, once I'm done writing the post, I usually re-title it. It's a lot easier to think of something more fitting once I know the actual content of the post.

Anyways, the actual writing part takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. When I feel strongly about a certain topic, it's quite easy for me to write a full post about it - I just sit down, write the whole thing in one go and then post to bear blog immediately after. I re-read it once before posting, usually, but a lot of typos often still make it into the public post. That's why it often gets edited a lot in the first few minutes after its public.

When I write for kamiscorner.xyz, the process is usually slightly fancier. I've got a bash script I can call to automatically create the markdown file and open obsidian for me, and a python script to cross-post to bear if I give the post a specific tag.

Anyways, that's it for today! I've been falling into a bit of slump recently, writing-wise, so I just wanted to get something out to sort of break that. This post is that something! I hope you enjoy :3
